Newest Stage: Temper Tantrums

Apparently turning 1 also meant that Claire entered the tantrum stage.  I will definitely try to get one of these on camera as they are quite impressive.

The best yet was yesterday.  I picked Claire up from daycare - she was not happy to leave.  She had been playing with a scooter and was very sad to leave it.  I "carried" her upstairs, carrying meaning holding her while she arched her head backwards (so she was looking upside down) screaming.  Ah...the joys.

Part 2: Getting into the car
Well apparently Claire doesn't like to be put in her car seat.  Again, she uses the "arching" technique which makes it quite difficult to strap her in.  I had to have 1 foot in the car and 1 on the driveway to have enough leverage to get her in!

Part 3: The Mall
If my "now" self could meet my self of yesterday, I would tell her to skip the mall.  I foolishly tried to make a stop to get a baby gift.  Once in the mall I realized it would take us 3 weeks to make it to the infant section so I decided to pick Claire up.  She definitely wanted to walk (and not be carried...sensing a theme of independence?).  Then the screaming began.  She was that kid and I was that parent.  Not much else I could do but laugh.  I tried to keep her busy with shoes but we eventually had to leave the mall.   I ended up paying waaaay too much for some kid shoes just so we could get out of the store!

Aaahhhh again - the joy!  How long will this stage last?

  1. You are not alone! Nate is a master tantrum/back archer/howler boy when he hears the word no now or gets stopped from touching the laptop. They are just advanced when it comes to the terrible two's :)
