Cupcakes, Balloons and Family - OH MY!

We had a fantastic celebration for Claire's 2nd birthday.  We tried to keep the festivities a bit smaller than last year, but that's hard to do with so many people who love her!

Claire talked Nonnie, Elizabeth and even Steve into swinging her onto the couch.

Nice air!

Balloons are a must have party decoration and game.  This game involved Claire twirling around and around...

until she got dizzy enough and fell over!

We did things a bit out of order and started with presents!! People continued coming in with gifts and I kept telling Claire we could open presents after dinner.  But then I stopped and asked myself why I was making a 2-year old wait to open presents.  So we ended up starting at the end!

Present #1 was a hit: 2 baby dolls, clothes and a stroller! (Thanks Great Auntie Pattie and Great Gma Ilene!)

Closely following presents we dined on home-made lasagna.  Here Elizabeth is checking on the b-day girl.

And having to wait for dessert was torture for some of us! Kalin offered to make dessert again this year - woo hoo, Elmo cupcakes!

Where to start??

 Say cheese!

Mom jumped in to help keep frosting under control.

I'm not sure if she's tuckered out or in love.  Either way is good with me!

Some of our favorite things! (Playdough machine from Nonnie and Papa and a computer from Gpa Jim).  Oh yeah, and Uncle Mitchy.

Presents just kept coming!

This farm is from Colette and Sara Janousek.  Apparently it's very fun to sit in.

Claire also got baby dolls from Jen (daycare).  The big girl dolly has lots of curly hair to brush.

Claire would comb once, get the comb stuck and say "oopsie, sorry", then start again.

The results...beautiful.

Claire also likes to blow dry and spray my hair.  She tells me (in a very authoritative voice) "turn away" so I face the other direction.  She then brushes my hair and puts in detangler (saying "ch ch" for the spray).  Every so often she'll put a hand on my shoulder, lean in and ask "owie Mommy?" Maybe I should be more careful when I comb her hair...
