30th Birthday

I was trying to decide what would be a good celebration for my 30th birthday. Last year we did sushi and drinks - not this year! It's a bit different celebrating your 30th with no champagne!

Sunday night (the 27th) we went to Benihana's with Betsy, Paige, Louise and Bill. Lots of fun - and LOTS of food! The servers also sang Happy Birthday in English and Japanese, always fun!

For my birthday we went to dinner at WA Frost. I was supercited because we found out you could get a really good deal on a smaller version of the tasting menu with early seating (5-6pm). So, like grandparents we had everyone get there for a 6pm reservation. Only then did we find out you had to have your order placed by 6pm. Booo. I was kind of bummed. Plus, unfortunately, Adam got sick so he and Kerri had to leave early (and they got a sitter for the night!).

Dinner was delicious: I had the duck, Ryan had the roast chicken and everyone else got a hamburger!! classy. (Sorry, Trisha will correct me here saying she had a lamburger - oooohhh, so much fancier!!).

The best part of dinner though was the dessert. I, of course, got the triple dessert - hey, I'm pregnant! A different server brought out the dessert and asked if I was the birthday girl. Yes. He then asked if I wanted him to sing. I said no thanks (remembering the lovely versions Happy Birthday from the previous night). Ryan piped in and asked "Well, are you good?". His reply "Yes, actually I'm quite good". So we said go for it....WOW. He is apparently (and seriously) an OPERA SINGER!!! It was the best rendition of Happy Birthday I have ever heard!! As you can see in the pictures below (thanks Sarah) I laughed so hard I was crying! The entire restaurant stopped eating to listen - and then cheer at the end. So much fun!
