Enough of this driving to lakes and pools, let's go to our own lake! And that's just what we did :)
Last Monday we made the trek to the cabin for a full week of swimming, skiing, booze cruises and naps (we also visited family in GB and hit up a wedding in Milwaukee). Side note - sorry to Laura in GB for not visiting with Claire. Blame Matt G for that one :)
The Beach: where we spent most of our 100-degree vacation days. Awesome!
This is serious sand castle building.
Kayaking with daddy.
Awwww...
Claire and Daddy making it rain!
One of Claire's favorite past times: swinging!
Ryan quickly learned that it is a good idea (when swimming in the "deep end") to have both Claire and himself in lifejackets. You'll see why in a moment...
Here Claire is pointing to the buoys saying she wants to go that way (i.e. further into the lake).
They seem to be riding a bit lower in the water.
I may have been called "Kalin" while taking this picture (which I think is a compliment!), but I was quite proud of my grilled veggie sandwiches :) Note to self, make 1/2 as many next time.
Ahhh...a perfect sunset during our booze cruise.
Neighbor Karen teaching Claire "Peas porridge hot".
Getting sleepy...
Singing with daddy.
Family love!
And then there were s'mores!
Hmmm...what is this made of?
Papa helping to clean the fingers.
We need to get daddy some new flip flops.
GGma Muriel left a bag of new clothes for Claire. These particular pjs are of Tinkerbelle and even have little wings (lace) on the sleeves. I'm not quite sure who started it, but we told Claire she had to get her pixie dust and sprinkle it on us so we could fly.
She started with Papa...
then moved on to Nonnie...
And finally, sprinkled Mommy with pixie dust.
Apparently my legs weren't flying high enough.
Family flying time.
After sprinkling us with her dust, Claire would run circles - I mean fly - around the campfire.
She needed to stop and refuel on her pixie dust from time to time.
After all that flying, some snuggle time was in order.
Upon our return home we found a few Washingtonian elves had left us messages around the house.
Claire also insisted she wear the dress she wore during our DC family photos (in April).
When you ask her how old she is, she'll respond with "I two!" while holding up 2 fingers (and sometimes a thumb).
Don't look too closely...there's not much under that dress!
