That's what Ryan told me after we spend Saturday night at Urgent Care.
Let's see...where to begin the story...from the point where my face smashed against the sidewalk? Or describing how I was laying on our entry floor while Ryan bent my toenail back? Or how Claire chose that moment to fill her drawers? Or how we were supposed to be going out on a date and had a sitter lined up? So many choices...I guess I'll start at the begining.
It was Saturday afternoon and I was going to do some quick tomato-tending before changing to head out on our date. One of the tomato plants is on the 3-foot rock ledge (this height will be important to the story later on) so I walked out and around to put a cage on it. Apparently I momentarily forgot where I was (remember, 3 feet up from the sidewalk) and when I stood up and started to walk forward I didn't realize I was walking on, well, air. I put my left foot down (onto nothing) and fell the 3 feet to the not-so-soft sidewalk below.
My chin hit first and I immediately thought Oh no! Are my teeth ok?!? I quickly realized they were all in tact. Phew. My second thought, I hope no one saw me. This was quickly followed by Did anyone see? Is anyone coming to help?? Luckily Ryan did her me yelp as I fell and came to find me. He pulled me inside and I layed in our entry way shaking a bit (definitely crying) and taking deep breaths.
Ryan was quite cool under pressure. Claire was crying in the kitchen, for a few reasons. First it was her dinner time but second, apparently my fall had scared her. Literally scared the crap out of her. She choose that moment to completely fill her drawers. Ryan grabbed the first aid kit and then got Claire and had me hold her while he bent my toenail back to it's original position and disinfected my toes and chin. He then cleaned Claire up (don't worry Trisha, being in the state I was I wasn't able to capture that poo on camera).
Our neighbor was on her way over to babysit so we could have a date night. Instead she ended up watching Claire while we went to the urgent care. One wheelchair, an x-ray, a tetanus shot and one ace bandage later I was home (with no broken toes) having a beer.
Sorry, no pics of the accident and no pics of me! Hopefully I'll be healed up and walking with Claire sooner than later :) All in all, an exciting weekend.
Oh my!!! Seriously...you picked that night to have that happen?! Oh, Molly...I hope you're doing alright and that you're not in too much pain. I loved reading this post because I could just hear your voice-it felt like one of our morning conversations! Missing those-talk to you soon!
