Summer Escape

After talking with a friend about how she needed to get "more summer" out of this summer (and took her 2 kids camping) I got the bug to get out!  Though I figured it wasn't the best idea to try to go camping with my 6-month old (and no husband) I knew that if I called up my mom she would meet us at the cabin in a heartbeat - yeah Gma!

So this past Tuesday Claire and I made the 4-hour drive to the cabin.  I was a bit nervous making the drive alone but she usually sleeps the whole way...so what the heck!  Well...she does really well for the first 3 hours...then it's a pretty exciting ride for the last hour!

Claire and I decided we needed a drink after the long drive.

But once we made it to the cabin Gma took good care of us :)  She made delicious dinners, took care of Claire on Wed am so I could sleep, made fired and found a sitter (neighbor Carol) and an observer (neighbor Karen) so I could ski!!  There's nothing like skiing on the lake in the middle of the week!

Gma also spent time reading "the number book" with Claire.  About now you might be saying,  The number book, I've never heard of that.  Well if you have a deck of playing cards you have heard of and seen the number book!  It's quite a long book (for a 6-mo old) but contains all sorts of fun activities.  You can count the numbers on each "page" or play 52 "page" pick up or take each card from Gma and hand it to mom. Hours of fun!
