It's a Girl!!

Molly and I introduced our new daughter to the world this morning! Claire Ellen Swiderski was born at 7:16am at Fairview Southdale hospital in Edina, MN. She weighed 7lbs, 5oz, and when stretched out (which she doesn't do very much!), measures 20" long.

Claire was in the breech position, so we had a scheduled C-section this morning. Earlier in the week, Dr. Block had theorized that the umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and that was why she handn't turned... she was correct. Thankfully the wrapped cord didn't cause any developmental problems (as far as anyone can tell), it just kept her from flipping.

It is 3:30pm and Molly is still feeling some of the effects of the anesthetics... some nausea, a little fogginess, but she gets better and better every hour. She's now eating broth and jello!!

Claire would love to see her friends and family! If you would like to visit us in the hospital this weekend, please give me (Ryan) a call so we know when to expect you. Visitor hours are from 10a-2p and 4p-8:30p.

Enjoy the pics! We'll be posting more for sure.

  1. AAAhhhhhh! Molly and Ryan, congratulations!!! She is just gorgeous. Thank you for sharing the pictures! What a beautiful little blessing :) This morning, I told Ella and Megan that you had a baby and named her Claire Ellen. Ella's response was, "awww, she's a little lady!" Indeed. We're all so very happy for you! Hugs, kisses, prayers, and lots of love from the Gelbs!!!!
