That's the only way I can describe it! I have been so wonderfully overwhelmed with how many people are going out of their way to show they care.
Whether it is:
- family coming together from all over (Cook, Onamia, Madison, DC) for a shower [insert shower picture here...when I get one!].
- Work friends/colleagues throwing a shower and playing Pictionary [insert picture when I get one...]
- Strangers at the restaurant giving me two stools (though I asked the guy what he meant by that!) seeing that I was pregnant.
- the Writing cohort offering positive thoughts, flexibility, a super sweet card AND gift card
- a hand-made Tinkerbell quilt from Gma Ellen (that goes w/the nursery theme).
- Grandma Anderson buying out Shopko and Babies R Us with gifts for Baby Swiderski
- conversations with colleagues (men even!) about how wonderful it is to be a parent and how wonderful those "chest naps" are.
- friends/family offering us their gently used swings, bouncies, exersaucers, Baby Bjorns and clothes!
- Closest friends throwing me a "fancy/tapas" themed shower. They know me so well! [Insert photo of 4 out of the 5 of us pregnant]
- parents (of students) and colleagues/friends telling me they will miss me when I'm gone.
OR
- my room parents throwing a shower at the end of the day today with all my students. I think they bought out the rest of Babies R Us! They also had the kids write me a note telling me 1)their favorite childrens' book and 2)ideas for girls' names :)Owen suggested "Sophia" (there you go Dad!) and Joey suggested "Joey". What wonderful helpers they are! It was also super cute, every time I opened a gift there was a loud "aaawwwwww" from the group (I think some boys even got into it!)
Funny story - one of the room parents asked the students what people normally do at a Baby Shower. What I didn't know is that the prompt for this question was the conversation with her son the night before. He couldn't understand how we were going to give the baby a shower (an actual shower) when she was still in my belly! I love 10 year olds :)
All in all, I feel quite loved, lucky and blessed :)
